.A WELCOME FOR ALL
The United Reformed Church in Crick, known locally as 'the Chapel' is a friendly group of people who meet regularly for worship and fellowship. We are part of a four church pastorate with Creaton, Kilsby and Long Buckby.
The URC is just off Main Road, by The Marsh, near the Post Office, overlooking the trees on the village green. We extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to come and join us. We hold services almost every Sunday, and we are always delighted to see new faces.
On the 3rd Sunday of the month, worship is normally led by our minister , with lay preachers, retired ministers or members of the congregation leading our worship on other Sundays. A joint pastorate service, led by our minister and hosted in turn by each of the four churches in our group, is held on fifth Sundays of the month. Following our morning service, we enjoy a time of fellowship over a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits in our schoolroom.
A number of special services are held through the year, including a combined service with St Margaret's Church for Women's World Day of Prayer, an Anniversary Service in mid June; a Harvest Thanksgiving in September; and carols by candlelight at Christmas time. Details of all of these events are published in 'Crick News', and on the notice board outside our church.

REGULAR EVENTS
We have always enjoyed being part of the wider community in Crick, and we hold a number of regular events when we welcome friends old and new.
On the first Saturday of each month there is a coffee morning in our adjoining hall from 10.30 till 12 noon. These are informal occasions when we can meet and chat, and all proceeds are donated to various charities, chosen by ‘the regulars'. In July a special event is our strawberry teas, which always go down well!
In November we hold a 'Grand' coffee morning with stalls etc., once again in the hall, which is always an enjoyable way of raising money for our own church funds.
On the 3rd Thursday of the month, we host a luncheon club, by invitation.

HIRING THE HALL
The hall, a large annexe to the church itself, is available for hire for non-church activities, such as choir practice, drama rehearsals, meetings etc. For more information please contact Margaret Lane-Sims on 01788 823874

A BRIEF HISTORY OF OUR CHURCH
Today we are the United Reformed Church but for many years we were known as the Congregational Church.
The church has its origins in the 17th century, when a local group of 'non-conformists' started to meet - or congregate - in some of the large houses in the village for services of worship.
In the 1700s they acquired a piece of land, the site of a Protestant dissenting meetinghouse, licensed in 1790 for religious worship, and in the early 1800s it was decided that a new church be built. The current building was completed in 1820, and regular services have been held here ever since.
At the beginning of the 20th century a major renovation was undertaken to provide comfortable seating for 120, and in the 1960s the hall was extended to provide a more versatile meeting room.
In 1972 the Congregational Church joined with the Presbyterians to form the United Reformed Church.
Our message to you
If you would like to join a friendly group of people to worship God and to grow in faith, then we believe the United Reformed Church could be right for you. We want to see our Church grow, and we would like you to be part of that.
We would be delighted to welcome you to any of our services, or to one of our more informal gatherings.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON.
