Personal Statement
After 29 years as a commissioned officer in the Royal Air Force (three in the RAF Regiment and the 26 in the RAF Police) which included overseas postings in Aden, Germany, Cyprus and Hong Kong, Brian retired from the Ministry of Defence as a Group Captain and joined Standard Chartered Bank in the City of London in 1994. He retired from the Bank where he was the Head of Protective Security in 2002.
He worked part-time on large air shows from 1976 and in 2012 retired from the Royal International Air Tattoo (the world's largest military airshow held annually at RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire) where he was Chief of Staff for more than 10 years. He continued to work part-time as the Head of the Operational Services Division for the Australian International Airshow (Australia's Farnborough International) which is held every two years at Avalon Airport near Melbourne until 2013.
Following retirement from the Bank in 2002 Brian and his wife, Judy, split their time between Crick, and Robina on the Gold Coast in Queensland. However, in 2006 they sold their property in Australia and moved back to Crick. Brian's wife Judy passed away on 22 April 2021.
