Cllr John Bamber

Crick Parish Council

Personal Statement

John joined the Parish Council in 2021 having moved to Crick with his partner Jane in 2019.

He left college and joined BT in 1980 where he served his apprenticeship and then trained as an electronics engineer. He worked for BT for 29 years, moving eventually into the Supply chain division and ending his career as General Manager of the BT Distribution Centre at Magna Park, which he had helped design and build. This job prompted his move to the East Midlands from his home County of Lancashire.

In 2010 he gave up his career to spend 10 months in Africa travelling across the continent working as a volunteer teacher and business advisor, primarily based in Zanzibar.

On his return from Africa, he worked for 2 companies as a self-employed project manager working on the development and implementation of various NHS IT projects throughout the UK.

After a brief spell working in the private sector, he is about to re-join the NHS as a senior project manager working on IT projects at UHCW.

John and his partner Jane have fully embraced, and love, the village life. They have 3 grandchildren in the village and another living in Rugby.

John says "I think Crick is a great village to live in and be part of, and I want to do whatever I can to make sure that continues and improves where possible."
