Cllr John Jones
Crick Parish Council
John moved into the village in March 2016 and lives in Boat Horse Lane with his partner Sandy. John is a former Senior Police Officer and retired from Northamptonshire Police in November 2008 after a career spanning 30 years.
John spent his formative years in a small village in Cheshire where, on leaving college, embarked on a career in Agriculture. John completed a HNC in Agriculture at the Cheshire College of Agriculture, after which he took up a post at the Northamptonshire College of Agriculture as Herdsman looking after their herd of pedigree Friesian cattle.
It was in March 1979 that John decided upon a change of career and joined Northamptonshire Police, starting as a Constable at Mereway Police Station, Northampton. After completing his two year probationary period, he moved into CID, an area of policing that he remained in for much of his career.
Throughout his police career John was involved in policing at a National and International level. He was a member of the National Drugs Intelligence Unit in the late 80's based at Scotland Yard and after a short return to Northamptonshire Police, took up a 3 year secondment to the Regional Crime Squad, based in Rugby, followed by a 5 year secondment to the National Criminal Intelligence Unit (NCIS) in London. During his time with NCIS John was Head of the Professional Standards Unit followed by Head of Region for the North West of England and Northern Ireland.
John returned to Northamptonshire Police in 2002, where he resumed his CID career, as Senior Investigating Officer in the Homicide and Major Crime Team where he led a number of high profile investigations. Prior to his retirement in 2008, John was Superintendent in charge of the Western half of the county with wide ranging responsibility including Police Commander for the British Grand Prix.
John has maintained a keen interest in the countryside and is a self-confessed tractor nut! John is also a School Governor at Crick Primary School and the newest member of Crick Parish Council.
John's motivation for taking an active role in the Parish Council, as well as the Board of Governors for Crick Primary School, is a desire to use the skills and experience gained throughout his career for the good of the community.
John's strengths lie in the formulation of policy, increasing performance and leadership.
