£1,000 climate action grants available

Community groups in Daventry District are being offered grants of up to £1,000 to help fund environmental projects as part of an initiative to tackle climate change.

The Action on Climate Change grants can be used to fund a range of projects, such as tree or wildflower planting, reuse or recycling schemes, litter-picking initiatives and much more.

The funding has been made available by Daventry District Council (DDC) as part of its Action on Climate Change campaign, launched earlier this year following the authority's decision to declare a climate emergency.

DDC declared a climate emergency in February this year, agreeing 20 environmental aims and improvements to tackle it.

They include a new tree policy, which aims to double tree cover across the District over the next ten years and the Action on Climate Change campaign, which shows people how they can make simple changes to reduce their carbon footprint.
