Message from u3a - Daventry & District Third Agers

u3a is a national organisation for 3rd agers; that is people who are retired or semi-retired and have reached their 3rd age.

There are over 1000 u3a throughout Britain in cities, towns and villages. Ours here in Daventry started five years ago and at one time had over 300 hundred members. This has slipped to just over 200 since the Covid lockdown began some 18 months ago.

Now that the pandemic has lessened we are seeking to spread the word about u3a to the wider district and make people aware of us. We hold a monthly meeting at Daventry Community Centre on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm where we have a speaker to give us an interesting talk and there are usually refreshments afterwards and time to chat and get to know fellow members. There are also interest groups which are self-learning sessions, run by the members for the members. Most are fun and our strapline says it all Learn, Laugh and Live. Our fee is a modest £20 per year (which runs from April – March) and at the moment we have a special membership discount of £10 for October to March 2022.
